Frequently Asked Questions
A: I base my rates per job: time needed to perform job, distance to travel to site, and scope of photography or other legwork. Let me know what you would like done, we can negotiate!
Q: How did you get into this?
A: After I graduated mortuary school, I was looking for some part time work as I searched for work in the funeral industry. It combines photography, travel, quick thinking, and small doses of human interaction… making it a perfect job for me! I am outdoors most of the day, and see so many amazing landscapes, plants, animals, and architecture. I absolutely love inspections and meeting the wonderful people of the Piedmont!
Q: Secure courier… what does that mean??
A: It means I have very good self esteem. Kidding… I will ensure your documents get to the customer or client safely and accurately. Your documents and my person are well protected, rest easy!
Q: What happens if a customer gets really upset with you?
A: I deescalate the situation as quickly as possible. Most people are really quite nice, but can get stressed out in situations that are out of their control or they feel afraid. I’m not there to collect money, shake anyone down, or intimidate! I am simply there to perform a service for my client, and I always relay the customer’s side of the situation to the client. My funeral director training comes in handy more often than I thought it would with Field Inspection! A good portion of the time, people can not make their payments because something bad happened… sometimes someone close to them has died, they have lost their job, or another tragic event that causes them to miss a payment or two. I listen and empathize, and urge them to contact the client as soon as possible so they can share their story. Many institutions are fairly understanding and will work with the customer to make things right.
Q: What do you look for in a building inspection?
A: It depends on what you’d like me to look for. I can do anything from draw inspections (percentage complete for new builds and remodels), to commercial and residential real estate inspections, move-in/move-out inspections, and much more!
Q: Your job sounds really fun! Can I work for you?
A: Let’s chat! I plan on adding subcontractors later in 2025, if you love photography, nerding out on buildings and vehicles, and lurking in bushes, you might be a good fit. Must have your own reliable vehicle and insurance, clean criminal record, and preferably a Notary. Due to the nature of some job sites, agility and strength are a plus. Some days are super long, but it’s so worth the freedom!
